Andijan

There is another city near Namangan - Andizhan, the largest historical and cultural center in Central Asia. Andizhan played an important role in the economic and cultural relations of Bactria, Sogdia and Shash with China. In the first century AD, the city became part of the Kushan Empire. About 30 km from the modern urban area is the site of the ancient settlement Erish, the capital of the old Davan state, which was famous for its fast-footed stallions. From here these swift horses were given as precious gifts to the Surrendered to the court of the Chinese emperor. In the 9th to 10th centuries, Andizhan became the domain of the Samanid dynasty. In the 15th century, it was made more military by Babur (Zahir ad-Din Muhammad Babur), the descendant of Amir Timur, a poet who wrote the famous epic Baburname Leader in India, conquered. Babur is known in the west as the founder of the Mughal Empire in India. He wrote of the city: “There are seven cities in the Ferghana Valley. Five of them are on the south bank of the Seykhun River while the others are on its north bank. One of the southern cities is Andizhan, right in the middle. This is the capital of the Ferghana Valley. Bread and fruit are plentiful here, but melons and grapes are the best. ”In 1902, Andizhan suffered a terrible earthquake, after which the city was rebuilt. Of all the architectural monuments of the past, only the “Jami Madrasah School” survived the time and the great earthquake. Ferghana Valley - the predominantly prosperous oasis with the most fertile soils in Central Asia and the pleasant climate, is rightly called the "Golden Fields".
