This tour also includes walks between visits to the legendary cities to discover the traditional villages and the surrounding green valleys. You will actively experience Uzbekistan.

Day 1

Arrival in Tashkent

Welcome to Uzbekistan! When you arrive in Tashkent, your German speaking guide will be waiting for you and will welcome you warmly. Together with your private chauffeur you drive to the hotel, where you can arrive in peace. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2

Tashkent-Urgench – Khiva

You can devote your first day in Uzbekistan to the sights of the multifaceted capital. You will visit Khasti Imon Square with the beautiful Barak Khan madrasah, the Tilla Sheikh mosque and the Kaffal Shashi mausoleum made of simple brick masonry. Here you can take a look at the Koran, which was handwritten by the third caliph Osman (644 – 656). The visit continues to the huge Chorsu Bazaar, whose oriental smells and spices will put you in the fairy tale of 1001 nights. In the afternoon, continue your exploration in the modern part of the city and visit Independence Square, Amir Timur Square. In the evening transfer to the airport. They fly to Urgench. Reception at the airport and drive to Khiva. Overnight in Khiva.

Day 3

Khiva

Already in the 6th century, the city emerged on the most important connecting route between east and west. You explore one of the best preserved cities on the Silk Road. The former capital of the chiwa khanates from the 17th century has preserved the fairytale atmosphere of an ancient, oriental city to this day. Day 4

Khiva – Bukhara

As you drive through the Kyzylkum desert, you will discover that even the seeming wasteland has a lot to offer. You drive along the Amudarja River, the life-giving stream of Central Asia. Your guide will also use the time to tell you interesting things about the country and its people. So you can look forward to a varied journey. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 5

Bukhara

You discover this city as “the pearl of the desert”. It is a city along the Silk Road. The city is a true home of Islam in Central Asia that flourished for many centuries. The city is home to hundreds of Islamic schools and handicrafts of carpets and decorations. During the tour you will visit the Minor Minarets Choir, Poyi-Kalon Ensemble, the Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan Koranic Schools, Samanid Mausoleum, Ark Fortress, Lyabi House Ensemble and many monuments from the medieval centuries. Day 6

The area around Bukhara

In the vicinity of Bukhara there are other sights that should not be hidden from you. Your guide will introduce you to the secrets of the summer palace of the last Emir of Bukhara – Sitorai-Mohi-Khosa – and show you the Mausoleum Chor Bakr and the Bakhauddin-Nakhshbandi Ensemble. This grave is visited daily by pilgrims and gives you an insight into living Islam. Finally, you will return to Bukhara. You can spend the rest of the day as you wish. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 7

Bukhara – Samarkand- Oqsoy

We leave the beautiful city of Bukhara in a southeasterly direction into the Zerafshan Mountains. On the way we stop in the city of Gijduvan to visit a ceramic workshop belonging to the family of master potters. Arrival at the end of the day in the village of Oqsoy. Overnight for one night with the host family, then discovery of the village, important place of pilgrimage. The faithful gather around the cave of Khazrat Dovud (David), where David would have sought refuge before fighting Goliath.

Day 8

Oqsoy-Tepakul

Today we go for a hike in the mountain settlement Oqsoy, where the prophet David was buried in a cave on the rock. It is a place of pilgrimage for locals from nearby and distant areas. Quiet climb through a simple and well-marked path that follows the valley. It is very pleasant. You will soon arrive in an apartment dominated by a series of rocks created by erosion. The path winds between these beautiful formations and it is the Oktog pass (1850 m), then beautiful lawns, where the shepherds settled with their flocks of goats and sheep for the beautiful season. Beautiful view of the Sharshari-Pari waterfall (waterfall of angels) before the picnic. Ascent to the pass through the paths of sheep and goats. From the top is a very nice panorama of the mountain ranges. Descent into the valley. First we go on the ridge, then continue down the slope down into the valley before we will surely meet the men on their donkeys. Then we continue to Tepakul.

Walking time: 5-6 hours, altitude 1630 m, distance 14 km, ascent 600 m, descent 600 m

Day 9

Tepakul-Omonqutan

In the morning we go for a hike in the area from the mountain settlement. We walk slowly in the mountain valley and then climb the pass. When we reach the pass, we continue on the ridge with a view of the Langar Pass (1900m) and see the wide plain of Samarkand with arable land and an orchard. At the top of the plateau you can see the rock formations that were created by erosion. We meet the shepherds with their flocks of goats and sheep on the lawns. We slowly climb into the valley, where we walk along a small garden from the locals. We drive to Omonkutan with a view of the village.

Walking time: 3-4 hours (option 5-6 hours), elevation 1150 m, distance 9 km, ascent 320 m, descent 320 m

Day 10

Omonqutan-Schakhrisabs-Ayoqchi

We gently walk through the clay houses in the Kizyl Tourouk valley, a good encounter with locals. We slowly climb up through the Bergbauer slope onto the pass. We reach the plateau, from where we have a panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks of the Ghissar mountain range. We meet horses, sheep and goats that run free. We go on the ridge overlooking the plain of Samarkand and Schakhrisabs into the narrow valley, from where we ascend to the Takhta Karacha pass. Then we reach the pass. Our driver is waiting for us on the pass. We continue on towards Schakhrisabs to a mountain settlement. We experience encounters with local villagers and entertain. Overnight at the hotel.

Walking time: 5-6 hours, altitude 1860 m, distance 16 km, ascent 600 m, descent 300 m

Day 11

Ayoqchi Samarkand

We say goodbye to our guests at dawn. The last houses in the village, surrounded by fields, are lined up along the river. Our hike continues between wide valleys and small valleys, but always in the line of the ridge to the Alvastikul torrent. Picnic on the water’s edge, then down to the village, where we take our car to drive to Shakhrisabz (birthplace of Timur). We visit the city. Transfer to Samarkand.

Walking time: 4-5 hours, altitude 1300 m, distance 11 km, ascent 500 m, descent 500 m

Day 12

Samarkand

Capital of Tamerlan, the large city of ancient Sogdiana lies at the crossroads of the main trade routes from China, Siberia, Persia and the West. This step alone is an essential point of the journey to understand the power of the Khans dynasty at that time. You will visit Gur-Emir Mausoleum, the final resting place of the famous ruler Tamerlan. After a short walk you will reach the heart of Samarkand, the beautiful Registan Square with its three magnificent medreses: Ulugbek, Shir Dor and Tilla-Kari, Ulugbek Observatory, Bibikhanum Mosque, Shahi Zinda Necropolis. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13

Samarkand

Today you visit the Museum of the History of the City of Afrosiob, the Ulugbek Observatory (XV century), which tells the fascinating story of the little son Tamerlan, the old tissue paper factory and afternoon you have free time to stroll in the oriental bazaar with your guide. Overnight at hotel.

Day 14

Samarkand-Tashkent

Today you have free time and rediscover the city on your own. In the evening, take the Afrosiyab express train to Tashkent. Transfer to dinner and hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 15

Departure from Tashkent
Transfer to the airport in Tashkent. Here we say goodbye to the group. We have unforgettable memories. Flight home.
