During this exciting tour you will learn the history and culture of Uzbekistan, to know world-famous fascinating monuments of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. This tour allows to get acquainted with the monuments of early middle Ages – Ayaz-Kala and Toprak-Kala fortresses, as well as to visit the unique museum created by Igor Savitsky in Nukus, a sand-swept city in northwestern Uzbekistan. The museum is also known as The Museum of Forbidden Art.

Day 1

Arrival Tashkent

Arrive in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Meeting at airport. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2

Tashkent-Nukus

Visit Khasti-Imam Square with the beautiful Barak-Khan Madrasa, the Tilla-Sheikh Mosque and the Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum. Here you can take a look at the Koran, written by the third Caliph Osman (644 – 656). Next, visit the huge Chorsu Bazaar. In the afternoon, continue your exploration in the modern part of the city and visit the Independence Square, Amir Timur Square. Transfer to airport for  flight Tashkent- Nukus . Overnight at hotel.

Day 3

Nukus – Ancient Fortresses – Khiva

Visit the Museum of Fine Arts named after Savitskiy, known also as the Museum of Forbidden Art, this is the world’s foremost collection of 20th century Russian avant-garde painting and includes important works. Afternoon drive to Khiva. On the way visit the fortress of Toprak Kala and Ayaz-Kala. Arrival in Khiva. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4

Khiva

Khiva was the capital of the Khanate in the seventeenth century. It was one of the most major markets of Central Asia and prospered until the early twentieth century. Today the inner city, Itchan Kala, is a veritable outdoor museum open where you can admire the authenticity of monuments Kukhna Ark, the Friday Mosque and minaret, the madras of Islam Khodja etc. The city is surrounded by pink clay walls that give it the air of dating Middle Ages. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5
Khiva – Bukhara

Today, we make a reasonably early departure for the long drive back towards the east. After the first hour, our road runs alongside the Oxus River, locally known as the Amu Darya. Turning away from the river, we cut through the striking landscape of the Kyzylkum Desert, stopping off for lunch at a roadside restaurant. Arrival and accommodation. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6
Bukhara

Bukhara is a city of poetry and fairy tales. It is a city like a open-air museum, with 140 architectural monuments of antiquity. The preserved construction heritage of Bukhara is a strange combination of monuments from different eras. They visit the town of Samaniden Mausoleum, the Bolo House, the Ark, the Mosque and the Minaret of Kalon, the Ulugbek and Abdul- Aziz-Khan, dome bazaar and others. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 7
Bukhara

In the surroundings of Bukhara there are other places of interest not to be hidden. Visit the summer palace of the last Emir of Bukhara – Sitorai-Mohi-Khosa, the Mausoleum Choir Bakr and the Bakhauddin-Nakhshbandi Ensemble. Finally, return to Bukhara. You can organize the rest of the day according to your wishes. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 8
Bukhara – Nurata – Aidarkul Lake/Yurt Camp

Drive to Nurata. SS tour of Nurata: walk to a fortress built at the period of conquest of Alexander the Great, Nurata Friday mosque with a pool of sacred fishes.
Drive to Aidarkul Lake (70 km). Walking around, swimming. Drive to yurts camp (7 km).
Accommodation. Overnight in camp.

Day 9

Yurt Camp – Samarkand

In the morning it is possible you to ride camel. Drive to Samarkand. Arrival and accommodation at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10
Samarkand
Capital of Tamerlan, the great city of ancient Sogdiana is located at the crossroads of the main trade routes from China, Siberia, Persia and the West. FD SS tour of Samarkand: Registan Square (meaning “sandy place”) became an official centre of Samarkand since Tamerlane the Great’s time. The Square is surrounded by the Ulugbek’s madrassah (1417-1420), the Sher-Dor madrassah (1619-1636), and Tilla-Kori madrassah (1646-1660); Mosque Bibi- Khanum; Siab bazaar, a colorful main farmers’market; Necropolis Shakhi-Zinda ; Gur-Emir Mausoleum; Overnight at hotel.

Day 11
Samarkand – Tashkent

Check out before 12h00 noon.
Continue SS tour: Afrosiab museum of the city foundation; Observatory of Ulugbek ;A visit to the Silk Paper Center “Meros” to see the ancient process of paper making..
Transfer to railway station for high-speed train “Afrosiab” Samarkand/Tashkent at 17h00/19h10.
Upon arrival transfer to hotel, accommodation.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 12
Departure from Tashkent

Transfer to the airport in Taschkent. Here we say goodbye to the group. We will have unforgettable memories.
Flight home.
