Navruz Festival – Oriental New Year
Samarkand and Bukhara are the main junctions of the Silk Road. Less known, but very charming the city of Chiwa, the ancient medieval streets are a delight. The central point of this trip is the Navruz festival in the city and in the countryside. They taste Sumalak (festival) and will participate in concerts and folk music. Another important event is Buzkashi, the equestrian game of Mongol origin, plunge into the ancient traditions of Central Asia. With hikes to the traditional villages and green valley’s you will discover the nature of Uzbekistan, this journey takes you into the magic of Central Asia.

Day 1
Arrive  in Tashkent

Flight to Uzbekistan. Arrive in Tashkent. Transfer to the hotel, where you can spend the night in peace.

Day 2-4
Tashkent- Samarkand (Navruz festival)

In the morning transfer to the train station and take train  to Samarkand. Accommodation in a hotel for three nights. Festival in the parks of Samarkand. Today you experience customs of the Uzbek people. Many events take place in March to the oriental Navruz festival in whole country. They drive to the village and join Navruz with the villagers. They have a unique opportunity to highlight the festival such as preparation of Sumalak, folk music and dances. Sumalak is a dessert made from wheat and walnuts. You are invited to participate in the preparation, stirring with a heavy spatula. Women sing and dance all night.

Sightseeing in Samarkand is a city of countless legends. It is an extraordinary city of ancient Sogdiana, at the crossroads of the main trade routes of China, Siberia, Persia and the West. You will visit breathtaking sights such as Bibikhanum Mosque, Gur Emir (Tamerlane Tomb of the Great Conqueror and his descendants), the famous square of Registan (XV-XVII century), Necropolis Shahi Zinda.

Day 5
Samarkand- Buzkashi

Today, it is a good opportunity to visit Kupkari (Buzkashi) competition in the Urgut region. Many horsemen from neighboring regions participate in this sport with Mongolian origins. In the late afternoon we return to Samarkand. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6
Samarkand-Shakhrisabz- Bukhara

Drive to Bukhara via Shakhrisabz – birthplace of great Tamerlan (300 km). We visit the “White Palace” (Ak-Saray XIV). Kok Gumbaz Mosque in the fifteenth century, the mausoleum Gumbazi Seidan – and especially the Khazrati Imam mosque recall the splendor of this city. In the late afternoon transfer to Bukhara. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 7
Bukhara

Bukhara is a city of poetry and fairy tales. Here the legends hover over the zigzag-like alleyways. Since in the verticals of the minarets, the flight of human genius rests, and every stone in the wall is covered with the dust of eternity. Bukhara is a city like a open-air museum. . Visit the town of Samaniden Mausoleum, the Bolo House, the Ark, the Mosque and the Minaret of Kalon, the Ulugbek and Abdul- Aziz-Khan, dome bazaar and others. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 8
Bukhara – the surroundings

In the surroundings of Bukhara there are other places of interest not to be hidden. Your guide will introduce you to the secrets of the summer palace of the last Emir of Bukhara – Sitorai-Mohi-Khosa – and will show you the Mausoleum Choir Bakr and the Bakhauddin-Nakhshbandi Ensemble. This grave is visited daily by pilgrims and gives you an insight into the living Islam. Finally, return to Bukhara. You can organize the rest of the day according to your wishes. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 9
Bukhara-Khiva

While traveling through the Kyzylkum desert, you will discover that the seeming desert has a lot to offer. You drive along the Amudarja River, the life-giving stream of Central Asia. In addition, your guide will use the time to tell you interesting things about the country and the people. So you can look forward to a varied ride. In the late afternoon we arrive in the city, overnight in a hotel in Chiwa.

Day 10
Khiva

Khiva is one of the most remarkable cities of Khorezm oasis. It was the capital of the Khanate in the seventeenth century. Today the inner city, Itchan Kala, is a veritable outdoor museum open where you can admire the authenticity of monuments Kukhna Ark (the residence of the khans, sixteenth century), the Friday Mosque and minaret of the eleventh century, the madras of Islam Khodja (early twentieth century), etc. The city is surrounded by pink clay walls that give it the air of dating Middle Ages. Overnight at hotel.

Day 11

Khiva-Urgench- Tashkent

In the morning transfer to Urgench. Flight to Tashkent. Depending on the arrival, visit the old town of Kukeldash (XIV century), Chorsu bazaar, the architectural ensemble Hazrati Imam (XVI century): Madrasas of Barakkhan, Mausoleum of Kaffal Shashi and Fridays mosque. In the afternoon, continue your exploration in the modern part of the city and visit the Independence Square, Amir Timur Square.

Day 12
Departure from Tashkent
Transfer to the airport in Taschkent. Here we say goodbye to the group. We will have unforgettable memories.
Flight home.
