Majestic ruins of fortresses, unique architectural complexes – paradise for archaeologists and people interested in history, ancient traditions and customs. On this tour you will learn about the monuments of the early Middle Ages – the fortress of Ayaz-Kala and Toprak-Kala, as well as the unique museum created by Igor Savitskiy in Nukus, in a city in northwestern Uzbekistan.

Day 1-2

Tashkent

Arrive in Tashkent in early morning, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Meeting at airport. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation at hotel.

Visit Khasti-Imam Square with the beautiful Barak-Khan Madrasa, the Tilla-Sheikh Mosque and the Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum. Here you can take a look at the Koran, written by the third Caliph Osman (644 – 656). Next, visit the huge Chorsu Bazaar. In the afternoon, continue your exploration in the modern part of the city and visit the Independence Square, Amir Timur Square. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3

Tashkent –Kokand-Rishton-Fergana

At 8.00 transfer to Kokand by express train. At 12.00 arrival in Kokand. Our guide will meet you at the station. The tour around Kokand begins the palace of the 19th-century Khudoyar-Khan Palace, Jami Mosque. Norbuta-Biy Medre, Modari Khan Mausoleum, which is a mausoleum for all female relatives of the Khan family.
Rishton is a city (50 km west of Fergana) that is famous around the world for its pottery – every third family in Rishtan is a potter. Rishtan ceramics is decorated according to ancient tradition, which is more than 800 years old. Masters hand over their trade secrets from father to son. The unique red clay ceramic masterpieces are adorned with classic, naturally made ultramarine, turquoise and azure ornaments known as the blue glaze “Ishkor”. All visitors are greeted with a wide variety of fine dishes, which often take place in many international exhibitions, museums, world and private collections. The tour program includes a visit to the workshops of the famous potter Rustam Umarov and master of silk carpet weaver Bahromjon Gafurov. Transfer to Fergana. Overnight at hotel

Day 4

Fergana-Margilan-Kuva-Andijan-Tashkent

Transfer to Margilan. The excursion begins with a visit to Said-Ahmad Hodji Madrese, where craftsmen make original silk rugs. Walk through the local bazaar and visit the silk factory Yodgorlik, where visitors can watch the process of silk making with traditional decoration “Ikat”. If the tour is on Thursday or Sunday, you can take a walk through the largest bazaar in the Fergana Kumtepa valley. Kuva is covered with gardens and vineyards. It is famous for its delicious pomegranates. There is a planned visit to the monumental complex of Ahmad Al-Fargoni. On the way there is a stop in Shahristan city and a visit to the knife workshop. Transfer to Andijan. A tour of the city includes a visit to the central bazaar, the Hunarmandchilik artisan street, the Art and Literary Museum, the Craft Center, the Bog I Shamol Garden, known as the Garden of the Winds, the Bobur Museum. Transfer to the train station. Departure to Tashkent. At 21:20 arrival in Tashkent.

Day 5

Nukus

In the morning transfer to the airport. They fly to Nukus. Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Visit the Savitskiy Art Museum in Nukus, the world’s second largest collection of Russian and Central Asian avant-garde art. Overnight stay in the Nukus.

Day 6

Nukus -Ancient fortresses – Khiva

Afternoon drive to Khiva through the Kyzylkum Desert and visit the Khorezm Remains. You will visit the Toprak-Alter-Kala settlement, which was the capital of Khorezm in the 3rd century AD. It is the only fully excavated monument in Khorezm. Its size and genius of architectural design make Toprak-Kala one of the unique monuments of Khorezm. Ayaz-Kala was neither a city nor a settlement, it was a fortress complex, in which groups of the Kushan dynasty settled down. Continue to Khiva.

Day 7

Khiva

Khiva was the capital of the Khanate in the seventeenth century. It was one of the most major markets of Central Asia and prospered until the early twentieth century. Today the inner city, Ichan Kala, is a veritable outdoor museum open where you can admire the authenticity of monuments Kukhna Ark, the Friday Mosque and minaret, the madras of Islam Khodja etc. The city is surrounded by pink clay walls that give it the air of dating Middle Ages. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8
Khiva – Bukhara

Today, we make a reasonably early departure for the long drive back towards the east. After the first hour, our road runs alongside the Oxus River, locally known as the Amu Darya. Turning away from the river, we cut through the striking landscape of the Kyzylkum Desert, stopping off for lunch at a roadside restaurant. Arrival and accommodation. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9
Bukhara

Bukhara is a city of poetry and fairy tales. It is a city like a open-air museum, with 140 architectural monuments of antiquity. The preserved construction heritage of Bukhara is a strange combination of monuments from different eras. They visit the town of Samaniden Mausoleum, the Bolo House, the Ark, the Mosque and the Minaret of Kalon, the Ulugbek and Abdul- Aziz-Khan, dome bazaar and others. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 10
Bukhara

There are other attractions in the Bukhara area that you should not miss. Your guide will introduce you to the secrets of the Summer Palace of the last Emir of Bukhara – Sitorai-Mohi-Khosa – and show you the mausoleum Chor Bakr and the Bakhauddin Nakhshbandi Ensemble. This tomb is visited daily by pilgrims and gives you an insight into living Islam. Finally, you will return to Bukhara. The rest of the day you can make according to your ideas. Overnight in Bukhara.

Day 11
Bukhara – Shakhrisabz-Samarkand

Drive to Shakhrisabz – motherland of Tamerlane, where the great ruler and military commander Timur ordered to build Ak-Sarai Palace, two mausoleums. Today Shakhrisabz is a small town at foothills with beautiful landscapes of snowy mountains, sunny steppes and herds of cattle.

SS tour of Shakhrisabz: Remnants of Ak-Sarai Palace, bazaar of Shakhrisabz, Kok-Gumbas mosque & Gumbazi-Seidan mausoleum,  Khazret-Imam mosque. Drive  to Samarkand.  Overnight at hotel. 

Day 12

Samarkand

Capital of Tamerlan, the great city of ancient Sogdiana is located at the crossroads of the main trade routes from China, Siberia, Persia and the West. FD SS tour of Samarkand: Registan Square (meaning “sandy place”) became an official centre of Samarkand since Tamerlane the Great’s time. The Square is surrounded by the Ulugbek’s madrassah (1417-1420), the Sher-Dor madrassah (1619-1636), and Tilla-Kori madrassah (1646-1660); Mosque Bibi- Khanum; Siab bazaar, a colorful main farmers’market; Necropolis Shakhi-Zinda ; Gur-Emir Mausoleum; Overnight at hotel.

Day 13
Samarkand
Continuation of the sightseeing program through Samarkand. Today you visit the Afrosiab Museum, once the heart of ancient Samarkand and today a unique archaeological site; the Ulugbek Observatory (XV century), which tells the fascinating story of the little son Tamerlan; the tomb of St. Daniel and Konigil village, where you will learn about the traditional production process of paper from mulberries. You also have the opportunity to stroll around the oriental bazaar. Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 14
Samarkand – Tashkent

Today you have free time to experience the city on your own. In the evening, take the train back to Tashkent. Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 15
Departure from Tashkent
Transfer to the airport in Taschkent. Here we say goodbye to the group. We will have unforgettable memories.
Flight home.
